In June 1969, just a month after The Who released their groundbreaking rock opera "Tommy", another concept album quietly emerged — telling a similarly powerful story of a blind boy trying to understand the world.

"The Adventures of Keith", created by American singer Keith (James Barry Keefer), is a forgotten gem of late-60s psychedelia meets baroque pop. Known for his 1966 hit “98.6,” Keith took a sharp creative turn, writing and recording a deeply personal concept album with British influences, emotional depth, and hints of the theatrical flair that would define David Bowie’s early-70s work.

Despite its ambition and artistry, the album quickly faded into obscurity — overshadowed, in part, by the massive success of Tommy. In this video, we dive deep into the album’s history, explore its themes and sound, and uncover why it deserves a second listen more than 50 years later.
