In this video, we revisit a critical flaw that has persisted in the Ford Focus for over two decades. During a recent crash test with the latest model, the airbag deploys as expected—but instead of protecting the dummy’s head, it causes it to whip backward. As a result, the dummy's head strikes the upper door pillar (the B-pillar), leading to a simulated severe head injury.

This issue highlights a long-standing design concern in the vehicle’s airbag deployment angle and seat positioning in relation to the cabin structure. Shockingly, this same problem has appeared in various generations of the Focus over the last 25 years—with no fundamental correction.

Is it a design oversight or a compromise in cost and safety balance? You be the judge.
