Quick sound design session making a generative/evolving pad. Skip to 32:00 for final result. This is using just a single note, built-in FX, and a lot of modulation. If you enjoyed this...throw me a thumbs up or leave me a comment.
Opening - 0:00
Adding LP filter - 0:20
-doesn't need to be super resonant
Finding a good bass wavetable - 0:55
What is the range of the filter modulation - 1:15
Osc1 Unison/detune - 1:45
Filter1 Modulation - 2:40
-almost all the modulation is time sync'd so nothing aligns perfectly
Custom LFO Shape - 3:04
-nothing special about hte shape, just not symentrical
More wavetable modulation - 4:15
-this is all to taste (slow variation, but nothing dramatic)
Adding stereo effect to LFO modulation - 5:15
-I do this a lot to keep things moving in your ears
More Osc1 modulation - 5:50
-also new LFO shapes
Filter 2 - 7:35
-filter 2 for a sweeping notch effect (just getting it ready)
Osc2 - 8:35
-adding oscillator 2 with only certain notes in scale
-more unison and modulation for this one too
Adding filter 2 - 10:00
Adding LFO to modulation filter 2 shape - 10:50
-this will let through high parts periodically
Transpose Osc2 - 11:50
-Adding random modulation to Osc2 to change pitch
Osc3 - 13:45
-pitched up 7 semitones (5th)
-modulation for Osc3 as well
Adding some white-ish noise - 17:24
Osc3 modulation - 19:03
-limiting the notes that can be played
-adding Random modulation to transpose of Osc3
FX - 20:40
-Chorus to give some phasing to the overall sound
-Massive Reverb, Delay after the Reverb to echo that effect
-Lots more modulation
