It's been an unprecedented 24 hours for Australia's steel industry.The Federal and South Australian governments will fund a $2.4 billion rescue package for the Whyalla Steelworks, labelling it an investment in the nation.
The bailout came after the South Australian government seized the financially troubled plant and plunged it into administration.
The jointly funded package will focus on paying off millions of dollars to creditors as well as delivering plant upgrades and supporting a new owner when one is found.
