Groundbreaking Ceremony at the Southern Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility

The City of Hollywood held a Groundbreaking Ceremony on Monday, June 27th at 10:00 a.m. at the Southern Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant to celebrate the end of construction of two new injection wells and the start of construction of their new pump station. The construction of two additional Class I wells and their pump station is in an effort to comply with the Florida Statute that requires the elimination of all ocean outfalls by 2025.

As Mayor Josh Levy indicated, with an investment of $112,299,970 dedicated to these new wells and the pump station, the City continues to demonstrate our commitment to the environment and positive “green” initiatives.

Special recognition to our partners Primoris Cardinal Contractors, Incorporated. They are a leading general contractor in the water and wastewater industry, and they are committed to completing this critical project on budget and on schedule. Also thanks to our engineering consultant Brown and Caldwell. They have been a reliable and consistent force with their innovative approach, and their oversight of the design, permitting and construction management for this project. Construction of the 8,000SF station is expected to be completed in 24 months.
