A Minecraft Movie had all the tools to build something great—cool world, big budget, and a fun cast—but it somehow forgot the most important part: to actually be fun. Sure, there's adventure, but that's about all it delivers. Despite being made for kids, even they didn’t laugh much. Since the game doesn’t come with a built-in story, the film had a chance to get creative. But instead of adding depth or charm, it gives us a thin plot and even thinner characters. Jack Black’s Steve quits his office job to mine, stumbles on a magic orb, and ends up in the Overworld. When the Nether’s villain Malgosha (Rachel House) threatens to destroy it, he teams up with a ragtag crew—including Jason Momoa’s Garbage Man—to stop her. The characters? Flat. The jokes? Weak. Even the heartfelt moments feel forced. Only Rachel House brings life to the screen, especially in scenes with Black. The Overworld looks cool, but the movie feels hollow. In the end, it’s more boring chore than playful adventure.
