To create this list, we compiled a list of over 100 British Rock bands and looked for information about each of them on the Billboard 200™ and the UK Albums Chart so that we could come up with a ranking of the 20 British Rock bands that sold the most albums in the US and the UK.

We would like to inform you in advance that this is not a list of the best, but rather presents the results obtained objectively through the methodology that will be presented in this description.

ℹ The UK Albums Chart is a weekly music chart that lists the 100 best-selling albums (physical and digital) in the UK. 🇬🇧

These are two of the most important rankings in the music industry. Together, they can give us an approximate idea of ​​each band's sales success.

🟢 Initial considerations:

1️⃣ Solo artists are not included in this list; the focus here is on bands.
2️⃣ The definition of Rock for this list is broad, encompassing all subgenres, including Rock and Roll, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Punk Rock, Progressive Rock, Grunge, Indie Rock, Pop Rock, New Wave, Glam Rock, Psychedelic Rock, Folk Rock and countless others.
3️⃣ The band must have originated in the United Kingdom, regardless of where its members were born.


🧮 For scoring, we use the following calculations:

a. Scoring criteria for Billboard 200™:

• No. 1 Hits = 20 + Number of weeks
• Top 10 Hits = 5
• Titles = 2

b. Scoring criteria for UK Albums Chart:

• UK No1s = 20 + Number of weeks
• UK Top 10s = 5
• UK Top 40s = 2
• UK Top 75s = 1

Note: Multiply the results by the value assigned to each field and add everything together to obtain
the final result.
