Crowcuss was a Winnipeg, Manitoba band whose original members included Greg Leskiw and Bill Wallace of The Guess Who. Beginning in 1974 as a Jazz Fusion outfit called Mood Jga Jga. Leskiw eventually tired of touring and left the band before the name change and signing to Edmonton, Alberta label; Stony Plain Records. Label boss Holger Petersen financed the recording of a full-length album at Mushroom Studios in Vancouver, the same studio as era legends Heart, Chilliwack, and Doucette, and hired producer Keith Stein whose credits include Trooper, Prism, and Loverboy. At the time of recording the 1979 debut, the band lineup was Bill Wallace, Larry Pink, Marc La France, and Hermann Fruhm.

This video was also produced by Stony Plain Records for the first single, appropriately titled "Running Start," and released alongside a 7" single which would turn out to be their biggest hit, earning a number one position on the radio charts in Guatemala. The song reached as high as #17 on local and regional radio stations in Western Canada while peaking at #64 on the National RPM chart. Crowcuss toured extensively that year, opening for Burton Cummings, Prism, Goddo, Doucette, and Streetheart.

The drummer and lead vocalist for Crowcuss was Marc La France, who would later record with superstars like Carly Simon, David Lee Roth, Cher, Mötley Crüe, Bachman & Turner, Loverboy, Glass Tiger, Scorpions, and Alice Cooper.
