Ringo was there first with the Eddie Clayton Skiffle Group, in July 1957. John and his group the Quarry Men made their debut on 7 August 1957. Owner Alan Sytner was not a fan of rock’n’roll and when they played a couple of Elvis songs he sent a note to John onstage to, “cut out the rock’n’roll”. Paul missed this gig because he was away at Boy Scout camp.
The first appearance as “The Beatles” was on 9 February 1961. This was also George’s debut at the club. Ringo joined and on 19 August 1962 Cavern-goers were treated to their first glimpse of the Fab Four.
Their last Cavern gig, after 292 appearances [according to the Cavern’s own website], was on 3 August 1963.
