Hey friends,

Hope you have enjoyed this set of 90s house classics right here. This set and these tunes are very special to me and dear to my heart as they are some of the first records I ever owned.

I first heard these tunes when I started clubbing in 1996 as a 14-year-old when I went to my first event, which was an underage at the metro called Time. Ironically, my first nightclub event was a day party! We’d line up for an hour to get in and spend the next 5 hours till 6 pm raving away with a thousand other teenagers drinking cokes and smoking ciggies on the dance floor thinking we were the duck's nuts.

I remember seeing the DJ spinning wax for the very first time at this party and thinking to myself, wow, I want to be that dude. And thus began my love affair with djing and vinyl. I started going to a friend's house that had turntables and he taught me the ins and outs of mixing. This was also when I started my record collection! Weekend train exhibitions to the city would have me going to Sanity and HMV on burke street or even to sanity at highpoint where I’d scout the latest house and trance. I didn’t even know what hard trance was yet!

And these tunes in this set right here, well 90% of them anyway, are probably in the first 50 records I’ve owned out of this 1300-strong collection that sits behind me right now. A few of them are in the first 10 records I purchased back as that young kid that had no idea wtf he was doing.

So I really do hope you enjoy this set This era of house music along with the trance that was coming out around the same time shaped my musical tastes for years to come and has inevitably led me to where I am today.
