They were called MOVING PICTURES. Strips of pictures moving rapidly on a screen provided us with "movies". This 1948 film held by the U.S. Library of Congress was produced by RKO and shows the value of American industry, from Southern cotton for film cellulose to New York advertising or "exploitation", in Hollywood. Featured is Lithuanian Jew Al Jolson as the "King of Blackface", President Teddy Roosevelt on camera as well as John Barrymore's stirring performance as Richard III.
