Hello internet, to recreate the FM patch from the track "Lost in Space" by Penta, we need to revisit 2003, the year of its release, and examine the available synthesizers of that time. Personally, I'm not sure which synthesizer was used to create the patch, perhaps a Virus B or C, or a Nordlead 2. In either way, I've discovered that the Virus will bring us really close to that famous timbre Penta created in the track.

To create the patch, we need to set the first oscillator one octave below the second, sync both oscillators, and set the second oscillator to shape number 31. Then, it's all about FM-ing the second oscillator using the default pos-tri algorithm from the Virus.

To shape the timbre of the patch, we'll use the first LP filter in Serial 4 order. The filter should be closed two-thirds of the way and modulated using a plucky filter envelope.

To finish up the sound, we'll set both LFO 1 & 2 to S&H shape with a rate of 1/8 and a phase value of 1. LFO1 will modulate the release of the amp envelope, and LFO2 will modulate the note length of the arp, giving the sound a really nice groove.

Now, all we need to do is turn on the arpeggiator, set it to a rate of 1/16, add a nice delay, and play it with a kick and bass.
