Elon Musk’s SpaceX could threaten the US Space Council’s longevity under the new Trump administration. Lobbyers and Trump's aids have reportedly been pushing to axe the group as they see it as a waste of time.
US Air Force Colonel (Retired) & FMR Astronaut Terry Virts has said there is an “ethics question” surrounding the situation that “should be talked about”.
“Elon Musk has given Trump hundreds of millions of dollars to help him get elected and then he’s put in charge of the government basically with his DOGE [Department for Government Efficiency program],” Mr Virts told Sky News Australia.
“And then Trump says we’re going to send you billions of dollars to send you to Mars.”
