In 2003, an international military force under British and American leadership invaded Iraq. The invasion was intended to destroy an arsenal of weapons of mass destruction allegedly possessed by Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein. In retrospect, it emerged that the war, which claimed hundreds of thousands of lives, was justified with a lie.
