You’re driving home, minding your own business, when bam—you get rear-ended. That’s what happened to Kevin Jiang, a Yale grad student, on February 6, 2021. But instead of a routine fender bender, the other driver pulled a gun and shot him eight times.

At first, the case seemed random, but soon, a shocking connection emerged. The suspect, Qinxuan Pan, was an MIT researcher with a secret obsession—Kevin’s fiancée, Zion Perry. After the murder, Pan vanished, leading authorities on a months-long manhunt across multiple states.

It wasn’t until his mother made a suspicious phone call from a hotel that authorities finally found him hiding in Alabama. Three years later, in 2024, Pan pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 35 years in prison with no parole.

So, what do you guys think? Does the punishment fit the crime, or does 35 years not even come close to what he deserves?
