"In the End" is a song by American rock band Linkin Park. It is the eighth track on their debut album, Hybrid Theory (2000), and was released as the album's fourth and final single.
Mike Shinoda wrote "In the End" after locking himself overnight in a "horrible rehearsal space" in West Hollywood. The band was amazed when they heard it.
The song's demo, "Untitled (It Doesn't Matter)," was inspired by the band's experiences with dishonest people before they signed their record deal. Mike Shinoda emphasized creating music for those who inspire and are inspired by the band.
The music video, directed by Nathan Cox and band member Joe Hahn, features the band in a fantasy setting.
