The four electric cranes outside M Shed have become icons of the city, frequently appearing in promotional material for Bristol, in music videos, on souvenirs and in hundreds of photos on the internet.They’ve danced, talked to passers-by and lifted acrobats and newly-weds. Hundreds of people have visited them and even had a go at driving.
This online talk by Andy King (curator at M Shed) reveals the story of the cranes - from the 1950s to today.
