It seems like Republicans all over the country, including inside of Donald Trump's own White House, as well as in the House and Senate, have just blindly gone along with everything he said, even when they publicly oppose it. I mean, how we had Ted Cruz come out this week and talk about the fact that the tariffs were a dumb idea. You know, also about the fact that hey, Trump's behavior with Zelensky was not okay. Cutting off a D Ukraine is not okay. We have seen other Republicans come out and say those very things in the last few days alone, but they're still letting him do it. They're not actually throwing up any roadblocks. So all of these Republicans, even on the things they're publicly opposed to, are complicit with it. But as I said, it's not just the House and the Senate, it's the folks in Trump's own White House.
They have gone along with all this, had many times seemingly gleefully going along with it. Like, Hey, this is the greatest thing we've ever seen. Let's keep destroying the government, destroy the economy, destroy our foreign relations. This is great. We're all having one big party. I mean, hell, Caroline Levitt said late last week, it's a lot of fun. Trump's having the time of his life, but that is the public facade, right? That is what they want everybody to think is happening, because apparently, according to a new report from Axios behind the scenes, a lot of these Trump advisors, aides and staffers are actually freaking out because even they believe that Trump has gone too far.
So I guess that's good, right? I mean, they're going along with everything he's saying and doing, and they're providing no pushback whatsoever, but they don't like that they're doing it. So they have a conscience, I guess, just not a conscience loud enough to either make them leave the job or to stand up to Donald Trump and risk being fired. So they're weak as hell, but at least they know that, and they feel real, real bad about it. Here is what one of these employees, one of these Trump advisors said to Axios, of course, I'm worried, we're still in the honeymoon phase here, but the stock market and that data and the noise from Elon Musk aren't great. He was so confident and at ease that I started to believe I shouldn't be bedwetting, but they are bedwetting, and I hope they do. Honestly, I hope they do both figuratively and literally, because that is what they deserve. This is the same kind of report by the way that we got from the first Trump administration all those years ago. Oh, these aids, they don't like it. They're unhappy about it. Oh, they're mad. They're, they're thinking Trump's gone too far, and then they, they do nothing about it. Granted, they can't stop him even if they wanted to. I get that.
But every day that you stay there, as he becomes more and more of a dictator, you are facilitating it. You're not just compliant in it. You are facilitating it. You are allowing it to happen. You're not standing idly by, you are engaging in the process. So they may be freaking out behind the scenes as the report goes on to say they think that Trump has overplayed his hand. They think that he's obviously overstepping his authority and they worry that this is obviously going to cause huge problems for Republicans in the next few election cycles, but they're still gonna stay there because, you know, it's pretty cool working for the president of the United States, right?
