Bosnia and Herzegovina is facing its most serious political crisis since the end of the war, raising fears that the country may finally be on the brink of collapse. For years, tensions have simmered between the Bosnian Serb entity, Republika Srpska (RS), and the central government, but recent developments have escalated the situation to a dangerous level. The sentencing of RS leader Milorad Dodik to a year in prison for undermining the constitutional order has triggered a dramatic response, with RS authorities rejecting the ruling and ordering state police to withdraw from their territory.
