Traditional Palóc peasant houses were built with porch, shingled walls and gable roofs that were topped with thatched roofing. The village suffered frequent fires because of the highly flamable thatching up untill the devastating fire of 1909.
The buildings that you can see today were rebuilt after 1909, by using the adobe walls and tiled roofs, but they still retain their authentic structure and the atmosphere of bygone ages.
