To solve high voltage problems in an electrical grid, you must first identify the cause. Grid overvoltage can damage equipment, cause insulation breakdown, and disrupt operations. Here’s a structured approach to solve high voltage issues in a grid system:

There are so many solution of grid high voltage problems like
1. Switch Off Capacitor Banks
Disconnect shunt capacitor banks during low-load conditions to reduce reactive power.
2. Install Shunt Reactors
Especially on long transmission lines to absorb excess reactive power and stabilize voltage.
3. Adjust Transformer Tap Settings
Optimize OLTC transformer settings to reduce voltage on the secondary side.
4. Use SVC or STATCOM
Dynamic reactive power compensation for fast-acting voltage control.
5. Coordinate with Generation
Reduce voltage at generation sources via AVR adjustment or generator voltage setpoints.
6. Implement Demand Side Management (DSM)
Encourage consumption during overvoltage conditions to balance the grid.

But these all steps can performed by electricity supply company , on the user end we can control voltage by using any voltage regulator on mains.
