Smiler's Bio:
Hi! my names Marc but most people know me as Smiler! I’m a massive hard house/bouncy house fan and started learning to mix around 2000/2001. My passion for hard house developed after visiting Evolution nightclub on a Saturday night and hearing the then resident Dj (Ashley James) play a few hard house tracks in his sets this sparked my interest and then going on to visit Glasshouse at Digby’s after Evo’s sealed the deal! I remember walking in the first time and hearing BK Music is Moving banging out and I was hooked! The energy in the place was unreal and everyone was so friendly! It was at Evolution where two lads I had met gave me the nickname of Smiler! One of my good friends Nic Backhouse already had some decks and a mixer and had taught me the basics of how to mix and it wasn't long before I bought a pair of my own decks and spent all my free time practicing at home or round at Nic’s with our friends. I then met a now good friend Sam Townend at a mini rave we had thrown in a little old church hall on our estate for a mates 18th birthday party and we soon became friends, we wanted the same thing, to play the music we loved to a crowd! We went on to start our own event called Wired, We started off small but quickly started to acquire a reputation as being somewhere to go for a proper party on a Sunday afternoon! Sams passion and commitment was a major factor in our success! as things progressed this led to us being booked to play at some of the best nights going at the time, Housewives choice, Emphatic, phat to name a few and the group of friends we built from our dj'ing and clubbing was awesome! we were just one big happy family! I took a break from the whole music scene for a while but the passion I have for the music I love soon dragged me back in! things had changed by the time I started mixing again so I've moved with the times and now mix on cdj's or controllers mainly but more than anything I love getting the chance to blow the cobwebs off my vinyl and bang some classics out! I mix various dance genres these days, not just hard house, I believe variety is the key to staying in love with music. I have recently become a resident at an up and coming event called Jump founded by Martin Cook aka Bass Jumper that will be hitting a club in the Leeds area early 2017 after several very good promo parties! I hope you like my mixes!
