Don't Buy a 7" for Long Range FPV - Build a Speedybee Mario 8 Instead! 🛠️

Welcome to my long overdue in-depth review of the Speedybee Mario 8 Fold, a somewhat unknown frame released by Speedybee in November 2023 that I have flown for over a year now and built 5 quads with. This is a totally UNSPONSORED REVIEW, I've built all of these quads with my own money, and thought I should share it with you guys as not many people know about this frame. Speedybee do offer it as a VTX-less BNF, but I'd recommend building your own if you're up for it.

UPDATE WITH O4 COMPATIBILITY:

I just found out you don't actually need the Mario 5 side panels - just the print that comes with it. If you pair this custom print with original Mario 8 side panels, it works perfectly. You do however need M2 4mm countersunk screws as the screws need to sit flush with the print as to not rub against the panels. But this will save you all buying the side panel kit!

I tried to go all out with this review and showcase the quad's ability in a range of different flying environments and styles. The majority of FPV drone reviews you see on YouTube nowadays show the drone literally just being flown around people's gardens/local parks, and in my opinion this does not showcase what a Long Range drone can do. You need to test them in proper mountainous environments, as that's what they're made for 💪

In my opinion, if you are considering building a Long Range FPV Drone and are wondering what frame to get, skip a 7inch and go for the Mario 8. It is cheaper than most 7inch frame kits (£69/$90 vs £90/$120 for typical 7-inch) and is virtually better way. It folds up making it amazing for travelling, but still allows you to screw in the arms as normal if you prefer. It can fly for upwards of 30 minutes with ease, and cover 40km total flight distance with a 6S2P/3P Li-ion battery (9000mah+). It also has virtually the same footprint as a typical 7inch frame so it's not that much bigger/heavier also.
