The material was mostly +60 and had plenty of heavy black sand. Unfortunately, there wasn’t enough material to really showcase the jig’s ability to cut material down, but it definitely trapped all the gold!
All told the jig recovered approximately 1/3 grams of gold (yup! more than a 1/4 gram!) with the majority in the +60 fraction.
I’ll have to get some more VA paydirt and make a better go of it next time.
The Riverdance Mini-Jig discriminates most efficiently once bedding has formed in each tray and as new material is introduced. The jig shot is only the beginning of that process. If I repeat this test in the future I will run some sterile dirt (no gold) first to build a substantial bedding in each tray before adding the paydirt. Regardless, the test was a success and I look forward to seeing more VA gold in the near future!
