Susan Wells was the much loved sister of James Wells, one of my original artists in the 1970s. She was almost as flamboyant as he was, with an amazing powerful Aretha Franklin type of voice. In 1979, Tom Hayden who had promoted my Barbara Pennington hits for United Artists in America, wanted me to produce a Disco album for him on a girl with an amazing voice, and so I leaped at the chance to produce it on Susan Wells. The album was destined for Columbia records. Something went wrong and it never got released. Rick Gianatos and I had a bit of an argument about "It Must Be An Ambush", because I hated his mix. In the end both "Nightmare" and "It Must Be An Ambush" came out on Nightmare Gold records and were released as two separate twelve inches. In the 1980s I made three duets between James and his sister Susan, and also a single and a twelve inch of Susan singing "My Hands Are Tied". Now after 46 years we have a video to celebrate.
