The magazine aimed to highlight guitarists who shaped the sound of heavy metal through their innovation, influence, and legacy. Excluding solo virtuosos like Steve Vai and Yngwie Malmsteen, the list focuses on guitarists (and guitar teams) who gained fame for their contributions within iconic bands.
