On November 28, Maldivian media reported that a Chinese tourist was bitten on the back of her head by a shark near Malé. The incident, which occurred on November 15 at a local diving site, shows the tourist struggling to break free. After the shark released its grip and swam away, the tourist quickly surfaced. Police confirmed she was taken to a hospital and is not in life-threatening condition. Reports indicate the injured tourist, a 45-year-old Chinese woman, required over 40 stitches.
