Deputy Mayor Todd Bettison will be joined by City Council President Pro Tem James Tate and Anthony Zander, Department of Civil Rights, Inclusion & Opportunity Director, to announce the first recreational marijuana retail license recipients under the city’s revised ordinance, after a federal judge ruled in the city’s favor today in a case that halted the issuance of these licenses.
Since Detroit voters overwhelmingly approved the sale of recreational marijuana in Detroit four years ago, Mayor Duggan’s administration has worked closely with Council President Pro Tem James Tate to ensure equitable opportunities for all aspiring entrepreneurs interested in participating in the profitable adult-use marijuana industry, and tomorrow, we will celebrate these first recipients.
