The Auschwitz trials opened in December 1963, almost 20 years after the Nuremberg trials, to prosecute German officials involved in the operation of the Nazi German concentration and extermination camp complex Auschwitz-Birkenau. Over 180 survivors served as witnesses in the trial. UNESCO included the over 430 hours of recordings of the trials in the UNESCO Memory of the World register in 2017.
