ABOUT this concert:
Thanks to his many guises and projects, Typhoon is no outsider on the Dutch music scene. The last show by the Zwolle rapper at North Sea Jazz, in 2010 with New Cool Collective, showcased one of the most remarkable collaborations on Dutch soil. Since that time it has been a bit quiet around Typhoon. But then Lobi Da Basi was released, his latest album with a title that translated into something like ‘Love is the boss’. For this album he traveled to Surinam, Brazil, New Orleans and the Dutch island of Terschelling. This results in exciting work where the boundaries get blurred and unusual musical combinations are created between blues, surf rock, jazz, hip hop, French chansons and soul. All this is powered by his eight-member band and an energetic live reputation.
