In this week’s Station Cribs episode, Mike takes you inside the impressive Training Center at Plainfield Fire Department in Michigan. Guided by Kyle Svoboda, the department's new Chief as of June, we explore this state-of-the-art facility and uncover the thought process behind its incredible design.

This training center is built like a fully functional fire department, with its own engine, support vehicles, and innovative structures designed to simulate real-world scenarios. Inside, you’ll find:

A state-of-the-art classroom with advanced AV technology and ample space for learning.

*A Tiny House for realistic, hands-on training in firefighting and rescue.
*A reconfigurable confidence course that keeps training fresh year after year.
*A versatile smokehouse that allows for customizable training environments.

Recruits can practice RIT operations, engine work, and rescue tasks—all under one roof. This facility sets the bar high for firefighter education and should inspire departments everywhere to think bigger regarding training.
