Today, we’re treating a stubborn plantar wart using a combination of debridement and salicylic acid. First, we carefully debride the thickened skin around the wart to expose the viral tissue underneath. This allows for better penetration of the salicylic acid, which we apply next. Salicylic acid works by breaking down the wart tissue and stimulating an immune response to fight the virus. Patients will usually need to repeat this treatment at home to completely remove the wart over time. This approach is effective, non-invasive, and can help restore comfortable walking.
