Here are 3 levels of salsas.
Level 1: Store-Bought Salsa
Salsa from a jar tastes exactly like you'd expect. It'll do in a pinch, but we can do better.
Level 2: Homemade Salsa Verde
Fresh green tomatillos, fresh jalapeños, avocado, cilantro, lime juice, and salt. Put into a food processor, pulse a few times, and finish off with some fresh red onion and more lime juice.
Maria approved, but we can still do better.
Level 3: The Ultimate Homemade Salsa
Add tomatillos, white onion, chili pasilla, chile peron, and garlic to pan or grill and get them nice and charred.
The right equipment can make a big difference, so we are using a traditional molcajete to grind up our roasted veggies and spices.
Finish with a squeeze of lime juice and eat with fresh tortilla chips for the best d@mn snack you've ever had.
