Europe has some of the strangest and most fascinating borders in the world, and today we’re exploring three of my favorites.

🇭🇷 Croatia & Slovenia – a true labyrinth of borders in Brezovica pri Metliki, with exclaves and tiny patches of land that barely make sense.
🇧🇦 Bosnia & Serbia – the Serbian “flag-shaped” border and even a Bosnian exclave inside Serbia.
🇧🇦 Bosnia & Croatia – a mysterious strip of Bosnian land cutting deep into Croatia for no obvious reason.

From exclaves to flag-shaped borders, these places prove just how messy history and geography can be in Europe.

These are my favorite border messes in Europe.
Croatia has a wierd shape, but look at this border with Slovenia. It is a true labirinth right in the Brezovica pri Metliki village with numerous patches of land barely connected to their sovereign country and a Croatian exclave that makes no sense at all as there are only 3 houses here. For sure Croatia entering Schengen Are made it easier to visit this place.
Moving to the border between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia we notice something trully unique. It looks like Serbia really wanted to raise its flag in Bosnia so they draw this flag shaped border here. Oh, and there is a bosnian exclave in Serbia a couple of kilometers east which seem normal comparing to the serbian flag.
We remain in Bosnia, but we move to its border with Croatia. If we zoom in here we noticed this narrow strip of Bosnian land cutting deep into Croatia. This patch of forrest must be very important for Bosnia, but I can't see why.
