The music release standards these days usually call for a Friday release schedule. But the 25th doesn’t fall on a Friday. And the 25th of October has a very special meaning for me and this song. This Sunday marks the 25th anniversary of my Dad’s death. I was just a kid at the time it happened and I didn’t fully understand what it meant. And all these years later I am still learning. But his death broke my heart and the hearts of my family. ‘My Broken Heart’ isn’t specifically about my father’s passing, but it fits the feelings of the song like a glove. We can suffer from a broken heart for many different reasons and it isn’t limited to only romantic relationships.
I wanted to honor the 25th anniversary with music because my father was a musician and handed down that love for music to his children (and now grandchildren). This song has a lot of heart, even if it is broken. 💔
