Adding, Deleting, and the 3D Cursor
You'll be constantly adding and deleting objects while working in Blender. The main hotkeys to know are:

Shift A: Add menu
X or Delete: Delete
Whenever you add a new object, its spawn point is going to be at the 3D Cursor. You can control the 3D Cursor with:

Shift S: Snap pie menu
Shift RMB: Place cursor
The 3D Cursor tool in the toolbar
