Loretta Tease performed this song for the first time during the Steelcock Festival in the summer of 1969. It was a huge success and only a week later she went into the studio to record it. She knew she needed the best musicians, and Ben Dover taking the spot on guitar would ensure that. Ben was an avid monkey breeder. David, his favorite monkey, can be heard playing various forms of percussion on the recording.
