Booca - So!


Booca's "So!" is a cohesive combination of acid melodies, breakbeats, and glitching, syncopated rhythm. Booca's approach to rhythm is distinct: negative space and sustained notes can hold the rhythm still, while dense grouping of drum strokes speed up the rhythm. The effect feels like time attached to a pendulum. Momentum of each cycle transitioning into the next.

The four pieces explore different tempos ranging from the 110 bpm "Flash Eaters" to the 160/170 bpm dnb-tempo "Saudade" and "We Are Inside a Puzzle." In between sits the title track "So!" which is part acid dubstep and part slow drumfunk. Shuffles and filtered layers of drum breaks hint at the dnb roots.
