While John was a man of the supernatural, he is most admired as the “apostle of love”—a transformation that took place when he was baptised in the Spirit. To John, Spirit baptism is more than empowerment for external ministry. It is an internal empowerment that enables us to live out the New Commandment, loving others as Jesus loves.
