History of the incredibly inspirational ASIN from the Philippines. Asin's first formation was in 1976 when Mike "Nonoy" Pillora Jr. and Cesar "Saro" Bañares Jr. started the folk duo Mike and Cesar in Manila. Lolita "Nene" Carbon would join the band about a year later and soon the group signed to Vicor Records and released their monumental debut album, "Masdan Mo Ang Kapiligiran" followed by "Himig ng Pag-Ibig."
The band broke up and got back together several times over the years and invited session musician Fred "Pendong" Aban Jr. to officially join the band for their third album, "Himig ng Lahi."
Other projects that these members were involved in include Lolita and the Boys, Lokal Brown, Ang Grupong Pendong, Nene Band, and Noyginji Interaktiv.
The band's legacy continues today through covers and remixes by many modern musicians as well as concerts by Lolita Carbon with Asin Band and Noy's new version of ASIN.
