A US official has disputed Kyiv's claim that Russia launched an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) at Ukraine, reports the BBC's US partner CBS News.Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says Ukraine was attacked with a "new Russian rocket" and suggests it has the "characteristics" of an ICBM.
Russia has refused to comment - instead it claims, without further information, to have shot down two UK-supplied Storm Shadow missiles
ICBMs are designed to deliver nuclear warheads, but can also be fitted with conventional explosives, and travel thousands of kilometres at high speed. There's no suggestion a nuclear warhead was deployed in this case.
It's still unclear exactly what was damaged in the attack, which Ukraine says was targeting infrastructure in the eastern city of Dnipro.
