The incomparable Lucio Fulci is the subject of Genre Fans' penultimate episode. Originally attending medical school, it didn't take Fulci long to pivot to a career in the burgeoning postwar Italian film world. After spending the 50s making comedies, Fulci's breakout was sexy giallo One on Top of the Other (1969). Fulci's subsequent gialli reflect his status as a "genre mutant": A Lizard in a Woman's Skin, Don't Torture a Duckling, The Psychic, The New York Ripper, and Murder Rock: Dancing Death.
