French police clashed with protesters in Lyon, France on Tuesday as demonstrations across the country ramped up in an effort to push the government into a U-turn of their proposed pension reforms, with French President Emmanuel Macron hoping parliament will adopt his plan to raise the pension age to 64 before April.

In Paris, thousands took to the streets in opposition of the reforms, with many blasting the government's "disregard" for opposition.

"It is a problem of respect for the people on the part of the President of the Republic (Emmanuel Macron). He has said repeatedly: 'I have changed. I listen.' I think we make enough noise," CGT union head Philippe Martinez said. "So either he listens and he is the president of all French people, or he has decided to make it a personal matter. And then, it is serious. Then, it is serious."

Culture sector workers also staged their own protest in the Louvre museum.

As the protests continue, strikes taking place in different cities also caused issues with deliveries from refineries suspended due to a blockade of trucks, the reduction of electricity and the disruptions of train services.
