Today, I’m joined by my good friend Leigh Fuge to try and find the versatile and decent-sounding guitar rig possible – for under $1000/€1000!

Now, $1000 might seem like a lot of money, but when you start adding up guitars, amps and FX pedals you can reach that total quickly – as Leigh and I discovered the last time we tried this and ended up about five or six times over our budget.

Anyway, meeting again at Henning Pauly’s 42 Gear Street Four event in summer 2022 was the perfect chance to try again, so join us as we pick our favorite bits of cheap gear from the event to try and make a rig Leigh could use for any of his super-varied covers band shows.

A short disclaimer: the video shows Leigh and I in the studio testing out the gear, and unfortunately somehow the recorded sound of the gear was lost – I’m really sorry about this! These things can happen at events like 42GS. So, we played around with the voice mic sounds and the results are good enough to heat what we’re doing. If there’s any piece of gear featured here that you’d really want me to try again in more detail, let me know in the comments and I’ll see what I can do!
