Why Austria is not in NATO !?
After World War Two, Austria was divided into 4 occupation zones and it was designated as the first victim of Fascism.
During the cold war, neither the west nor the Soviet Union wanted to withdraw their troops from Austria, but in 1955 The Chancellor of Austria flew to Moscow to negotiate the withdrawal of Troops. The USSR condition for this was that Austria committed to remain a neutral and nonaligned nation, meaning that the country could not join any military alliance, including NATO.
