In this interview, Arshan sat down with the Huddersfield-grown and now London-based clothing designer of the notorious UK brand Osbatt, SlikSyd. Syd tells his story, going from buying and selling clothes on Depop to learning how to make designs on Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator from Bryan Delimata’s YouTube channel, and learning the history of fashion from other channels like Threaducation, to making clothes. SlikSyd started his first brand, Years of Tears, where he learned the business and eventually took things further with his current brand, Osbatt. Inspired by Rick Owens, Syd learned how to ACTUALLY make clothes by learning sewing & pattern making, taking his brand to the next level. Osbatt caught fire in the UK with Central Cee, Lancey Foux, Fimiguerrero, & Len wearing his clothes & spread to the US, where the likes of Trippie Redd, Lil Baby, Lil Yachty started wearing it as well. Notably, Lancey Foux, Fimiguerrero, & Len named a track off of their CONGLOMERATE tape “Osbatt”. Now, a lot of people label this new wave of London music, ‘Osbatt music’. SlikSyd has expanded his world beyond just clothing with his KULT label and is also tapped in with the US music scene & the likes of Tana, Yung Fazo, Tecca, Osamason.
