Cyclone Fengal pounded southern India with heavy rain and strong winds, flooding city streets and causing disruption to residents’ lives after it made landfall on Saturday.
Some residents were seen wading in knee-high waters, while others, particularly the elderly, were evacuated in boats.
Flights from Chennai, the state capital of southeastern Tamil Nadu state, were temporarily suspended on Saturday, but had resumed as of early Sunday morning, India's airport authority said.
India's weather office said Fengal is expected to weaken further into a deep depression later in the day.
