Miya spent her life in the northern ice town of Wihilu, where she was born, and grew. The elders spoke of The Great Barrier, a line through the Lahu Valley to the north that prevented passage, keeping Miya's people on the southern ridge. They accepted its existence and taught their young to stay away for as long as they lived. Some rumoured that the northern side of The Barrier was frozen over and couldn't support life. But Miya had always been a curious type. Miya had always felt an unexplainable draw to the north.

Standing on the outer hills of Wihilu, Miya looked out towards the Lahu Valley and, with a strangely warming sense of calm, decided she would go to The Barrier.

Approaching the middle of Lahu Valley, she saw what appeared as a translucent wall, gleaming and glistening from the ground stretching up toward the heavens themselves. The blurred view revealed through the wall seemed nothing more than empty vastness of northern Lahu Valley. "It's just a wall" she though, "what could happen?". As she reached out, placing an open palm on the surface of the wall, she felt the tips of her fingers begin to flow into and through the monolithic crystal tapestry, and with a sudden pounding of her heart, she stepped through to the north side of The Great Barrier.

Looming before her hovered five great bio-geometrical beings, called The Oriliths. The frontmost member slowly lowered itself closer to Miya, as she looked up in a stunned silence. And with a grand rumbling voice that cracked the ice around Miya's feet, said "Welcome home, Miya."
