freesoulJAH: A Retrospective - Exhibit 1: White Dwarf

White Dwarf came about as a wild jam session between my brother Simon and I. We jammed and played music a lot together as teenagers. He had been playing the guitar for years prior to the two of us attempting to make music together, so I decided to sing and learn how to play the bass. I didn’t really practice the bass enough to be able to keep up with him, but I really liked singing so that took up most of my musical efforts for years to come.

In this recording, we recorded our jam on an old cassette recorder that wound up malfunctioning in the process. The error changed the speed of the recording and much to our surprise made for a sound that we really liked. We were never able to duplicate the error, but we referenced this recording for some time as we jammed and joked around about calling ourselves ’White Dwarf’ (after the classification for stars). This was probably recorded between 2000 and 2001 in Las Vegas, NV.


Simon is currently experimenting with and producing a series called ‘Slaggy Dude’ among other artistic endeavors. .
