Very vintage Fender 5F1 guitar amp. One owner unit. Came to the shop in bad shape due to improper storage. I immediately changed the filter caps +checked the tubes. After a bit of cleaning, I brought it up slow on my variac. It came to life. I noticed rumble while turning the volume pot. This turned out to be leaky .02uf coupling capacitors. This issue is common in the tube amp world. Most folks try blasting the control with cleaner. Usually gives a temporary glimmer of hope, but the problem returns. With old amps, caps are usually the culprit. In this case it was the .02uf coupling caps leaking DC. The +DC level drives the grid of your output tube, increasing current, slowly sucking its life away! Best to change them with quality components. Have no fear, your amp wont loose its Mojo!
